Room Requirements

The LG HU710PW uses a hybrid laser/LED light source that produces a consistent 2,000 lumens. This is ideal for a relatively dim space—you won’t need to turn out all the lights, but you likely will want good curtains on any windows.

You’ll also want a fairly large room for the HU710PW. While the 1.6x zoom gives you some flexibility here, it needs at least 9.5 feet and as much as 15 feet to produce a 100-inch image.

Installation Ease

You don’t need to be an expert to set up the LG HU710PW. Along with the zoom mentioned above, there’s a lens shift control of +/-24% horizontal and +/-60% vertical, taking the frustration out of aligning the picture to the screen. For keystone correction, it offers 4-, 9-, or 15-point warp adjustment for quickly eliminating distortion and squaring the image.

Pros

  • Detailed and colorful high-contrast image
  • Built-in streaming interface with voice control
  • Cast content from iOS or Android devices
  • Good adjustment and anti-warp features
  • Ideal brightness for dim to moderate ambient light
  • Filmmaker Mode plays movies as originally intended

Cons

  • Not a great choice for gaming
  • Long throw distance

Picture Quality

The hybrid light source in the HU710PW produces a highly detailed 8.3 megapixel image with a high image contrast. Two image modes make it easy to optimize the brightness to your space, while TrueMotion ensures you’ll see every detail even during fast-paced action sequences.

The use of both LED and laser technology also gives the LG HU710PW a wide color gamut, covering 94% of the DCI-P3 spectrum and producing all those hues accurately and vibrantly on the screen. Its Filmmaker Mode makes it an especially great choice for movie buffs, adjusting the frame rate, aspect ratio, and color to match the original content so you can watch films the way they were intended to be seen.

Connectivity and Streaming

LG HU710P connections

The HU710PW uses LG’s webOS 6.0 interface for streaming and navigating content. It has built-in access to popular apps like Apple TV and Netflix, and can be navigated hands-free using voice control through the included Magic Lightning Remote. For Apple device users, it’s compatible with AirPlay 2 and HomeKit for mirroring content from iOS devices, while Android devices can cast content through screen share.

The LG HU710PW also has the usual array of cabled connection options. There are 3 HDMI ports (2 HDMI 2.1 and an HDMI 2.0) as well as 2 USB inputs for peripherals and an optical audio out for connecting external speakers.

Gaming Performance

The LG HU710PW can be used for gaming, though it’s not one we’d recommend for serious gamers. Its input lag measures 50-55ms, and while that’s consistent across Full HD and 4K gaming, it’s high enough some players will notice a delay, especially if you’re playing first-person shooters or other games where you need to react quickly to on-screen action. It’s responsive enough for more casual players, however, especially if you’ll mostly be using it for movies and TV but want the option to play games on the big screen now and then.

LG HU710PW Review In Summary

The LG HU710PW is an excellent projector for a modern home theater (>>> Find on ProjectorScreen.com). As always with a projector, where you plan to use it matters. With its long throw distance and 2,000-lumen lamp, it doesn’t offer as much space versatility as other 4K projectors. So long as you have the right kind of room for it, though, it’s easy to set up and use, with the robust wireless connectivity, easy set-up, and colorful, sharp image that check all the boxes for those who want to watch sports, movies, or TV shows on a big screen.
