Space and Setup

The Xgimi Aura is relatively versatile in terms of where you use it. It has an ultra-short throw distance, only needing about 20 inches of distance to produce a 100” image. This makes it easy to install in any size of room, sparing most the need for complicated ceiling-mounted setups.

It also includes 8-point keystone correction to square the image geometry, making it fast and easy to align the image to the screen in any setup.

That short throw distance also means the light doesn’t have to travel as far. On a longer throw projector, the brightness of 2,400 lumens would be a bit low for well-lit spaces, but the Xgimi Aura maintains a vibrant, high-contrast image even in spaces with lots of overhead lighting or windows.

Picture Quality

The advanced laser phosphor light source of the Xgimi Aura produces a consistently sharp, vibrant picture with excellent depth and texture across the entire image. Its true 4K resolution means a high level of on-screen detail, and that detail stays sharp during fast-paced sequences thanks to the MEMC technology.

With support for HDR10, the Aura plays movies and shows the way they were meant to be seen, and makes it easy to get immersed in your viewing experience. It also plays 3D content at that same sharp Ultra HD resolution instead of downgrading it to full HD like many projectors, giving you a cinema experience for all types of content.

Pros

  • Sharp and detailed 4K resolution
  • Supports 4K 3D
  • Ultra-short throw distance
  • Easy set-up with 8-point keystone correction
  • Built-in Android streaming interface and Chromecast
  • Great sound from Harmon Kardon speakers
  • Bright enough for most indoor spaces
  • Robust connectivity

Cons

  • Input lag is on the high side for gaming

Built-in Sound

You won’t need to use external speakers with the Xgimi Aura. It has 4 Harman Kardon speakers built in, each powered by 15 watts and backed by Dolby Audio technology. The result is room-filling sound with a crisp mid-range and full bass end, with an output and sound quality equal to what you’d expect from stand-alone soundbars.

Streaming and Connectivity

Xgimi Aura connection

The rear panel of the Xgimi Aura has more options than the typical home theater projector. Its 3 USB ports and 3 HDMI ports are ideal for complicated setups, giving you more space for devices and content sources.

Along with these wired connection options, the Aura has both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, and has support for casting through Chromecast built in. Its integrated Android streaming interface has access to all the apps in the Google Play store, with Google Assistant voice control that you can use to search for content or navigate the interface.

Xgimi Aura Review In Summary

The Xgimi Aura is the ideal all-in-one projector for a modern home theater setup (>>> Check on ProjectorScreen.com). It’s one of the most versatile projectors on the current market, with a short throw ratio, good lamp brightness, and variety of wired and wireless connection options. The only place it falls short is its gaming performance, with an input lag that’s a bit higher than the recommended range for gamers. For watching shows and movies, though, it has the combination of picture quality and convenience most buyers are looking for.
