Official Brightness Level of Wemax Nova Reduced from 2,100 to 1,300 Lumens

Epson has announced a resolution with Wemax, an Amazon Selling Partner, following a lawsuit regarding misleading advertising practices. As part of the resolution, Wemax has agreed to revise its global brightness specification for the Wemax Nova projector, correcting the previously overstated 2,100 Lumens down to 1,300 Lumens.

The original grievance was lodged in line with Epson’s initiative to ensure universally recognized brightness standards are maintained across the industry, assisting customers in making informed buying choices. The amended specification represents a truthful brightness rating that’s advantageous not only to customers but also to the retail sector and the wider industry.

“Almost all significant consumer products or services are assessed or quantified by certain standards. Be it in the form of accepted standards for automobile production and safety, electronics performance metrics, or food quality ratings, these standards act as a safeguard for consumer accuracy and transparency,” expressed Mike Isgrig, Vice President, Consumer Sales and Marketing, Epson America. “Wemax’s step to rectify the lumen count according to industry measurement standards is pivotal to helping customers understand what to anticipate in projector performance. This uniform application of standard metrics positively influences the whole marketplace, ensuring customers find the most suitable projector for their requirements.”

Epson advises consumers to be vigilant of confusing measurements labeled as “Lux,” “LED lumens,” or “Lamp Brightness” that deviate from the standard methodology and could greatly impact a customer’s ability to effectively compare projectors, particularly when shopping on Amazon and similar online platforms. Projector measurements are established by globally recognized standard organizations, such as the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Committee for Display Metrology (ICDM). The ICDM issues the Information Display Measurement Standards (IDMS), which detail the methodology for separately measuring projector color brightness and white brightness. The ISO standard that outlines projector measurement methodology is ISO21118:2020. Adherence to these standards eliminates any confusion about how projectors should be accurately measured and compared.
